Jean (Peters) Pryor, 90, formerly of South Wilkes-Barre, passed away July 4, 2014 at the home of her son, Lew and daughter in law, Gert, in Dallas, where she resided for the last 6 months.
Born on September 30, 1923, in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm and Bessie (Harris) Peters. Jean was a 1941 graduate of Grand Army of the Republic High School, Wilkes-Barre
Jean was a member of the former, Westminster Presbyterian Church, now Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre.
Prior to retiring, Jean worked at Pomeroy’s, Wilkes-Barre for over 20 years.
Surviving are her loving son, Lewis “Lew” H. and his wife, Gert Pryor, a grandson, Christopher and his wife, Abbey, three great grandsons, Kevin, Isaac and Dominic, several nieces and nephews
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Harold R. Pryor, who passed away December 18, 2004, five sisters, Dorothy Bonita, Ilah Grimes, Marion Burke, Betty Jenkins and Ruth Murphy, two brothers, Lewis and Thomas Peters
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with Reverend Karen Nickels, Pastor of Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township.
A viewing will be held, Monday, July 7, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and Tuesday from 10:00 AM till the time of the service
