Jane L (Rau) Hirel

Jane L. (Rau) Hirel, 74, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Kingston on February 3, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Mildred (Simmons) Rau.

Jane worked as secretary for many years in the medical field. She was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and she was also a member of The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 395, Kingston.

Jane loved organizing and running the class reunions for Myers High School and spending time with her family at Long Beach Island, NJ.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 40 years, Lawrence “Larry” Hirel; daughter, Kimberly Hayes and husband, Marcus; grandchildren, Ava Ryzner and Cooper Hayes and cousins, Donald and Carl Rau.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Family and friends may visit on Monday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM and Tuesday from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
