James W. Lyons, 91, of Kingston, passed away on Friday, February 6 at Allied Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Port Blanchard on February 28, 1934, he was a son of the late Willard E. and Ruth M. (Sickler) Lyons and attended Coughlin High School.
James was an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Forty Fort United Methodist Church where he was a former trustee. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and in his younger years, he loved riding motorcycles.
James was an electrician and, after 70 years of service, retired from the IBEW Local 102.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacquelene Cassetori and son-in-law, Ronald Shaw.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Jane E. (Houser) Lyons; a son, James W. Lyons, Plains; a daughter, Jane Shaw, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Sarah Shaw Bartlett, Ronald Shaw, Danielle Cassetori, Erin Cassetori Thompson and Jimmy Lyons; great-grandchildren, Lilly Bartlett, Finn Bartlett, Carter Martin and Hadley Lyons; brother, Harold Lyons; sisters Patricia Lyons Santarelli, Rose Lyons Brostoski; Diane Lyons, Kathleen Lyons; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 9, at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Richard Bradshaw officiating. Friends may call Monday from 1 to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Allied Hospice, Blue Chip Animal Shelter or the American Diabetes Association.
