Listen to Obituary

James Leo Kilgallon, “Dad”, “Jimmy”, “Jim”, “Grandpa Jim” and “Kink”, as he was known to those who knew and loved him, died unexpectedly from a heart attack at the age of 67 on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at his home.

Jim was a man full of life until the end.  He was a tree trimmer his entire life, recently retiring from Asplundh Tree Expert and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  He continued to help his family and friends with tree work until the day he died.  He loved being outdoors and was hiking and walking until the end. He also loved to ride his bike, ski and vacation at the Jersey Shore.  He was always there for anyone who needed him and was at every one of his granddaughters’ shows, concerts, games, meets and events.  He was always there and will be sorely missed.

Jim was born in Philadelphia on April 16, 1954 to the late Leo and Mildred (Vivian) Kilgallon.  He lived most of his life in Wilkes-Barre and Plymouth and had attended E. L. Meyers High School

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Maria “Mimi” (Paolucci) Kilgallon.

Jim is survived by his sons, James Kilgallon and his wife, Traci; Christopher Kilgallon and his partner, Sara Springer; granddaughters, Emma and Isabel Kilgallon; sister Linda Burke; his girlfriend Cynthia Cramer; former wife, Barbara Kilgallon; sister-in-law Lynn Dougherty and her husband, William; nephews, Robert Burke and his wife, Jacqueline; Michael Burke and his wife Amanda; niece Jennifer (Dougherty) Chabala; nephew William Dougherty Jr.; great-nephews Sean and Liam Burke; and his many friends.
