Hubert “Lucky” Zim, 79, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away, May 29, 2016, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

He was the husband of the former Jean Benotsky. They were united in marriage on March 17th, 1956 and happily celebrated 60 years together.

Hubert was born on August 3, 1936 in Swoyersville, PA. He was son of the late William and Martha (Amos) Zim.

He worked as a machine mechanic for 25 years at the Prestige Shoe Factory to provide for his family.  He was a great husband and a loving father and grandfather. Family was his “#1” in life.

In his free time, Hubert enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing games such as solitaire and gambling on the computer. He liked playing the slot machines. Hubert also enjoyed sewing. He often made bingo pillows and bags for friends that would want them.  He enjoyed cooking for his family and loved watching the Phillies.

In addition to his wife, Jean, surviving are 2 sons, Gary (Donna M.) Zim, of Dalton and William (Maryann) Zim, of Wilkes-Barre; 2 daughters, Cathy (Raymond) Pavlick, of Hanover Township and Rita (Charles) Harrison, of Plains; 5 grandchildren, Barbara, Heather, Raymond, Christy and Charlie; 6 great grandchildren and his sister, Pat Bocclini of Wilkes-Barre.

Hubert was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations to be made in honor of “Lucky”, to be sent to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478 Oklahoma City, OK  73123.

Hubert’s family invites family and friends to come to the Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral Home located at, 465 S. Main St. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701, on Friday June 3, 2016, from 6-8PM, with a memorial service following. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
