Helen Louise Wenzel Laufer, 93, of Kingston, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at her home.
Born in Dalkeith, FL on January 28, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Emil Michael and Elizabeth (Henzler) Wenzel.
Prior to moving to Kingston, Helen resided in California where she was a member of California State Advisory Board for Farm Workers. She was a volunteer for the Advocate for the Poor and served on the California State Advisory Committee. She also volunteered for Lutheran Social Services in Southern California.
Helen was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church/St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Laufer, who passed away in 1998; her grandson, James Laufer; sisters Catherine Black and Dorothy Fitch, and brother, Emil Wenzel.
Surviving are her sons, Edward Laufer, CA; Donald Laufer, OR; Martin Laufer, CA; John Laufer, NV; David Laufer, Mexico; Reverend Ralph Laufer, IL; Robert Laufer, CA; a daughter, Reverend Mary Elizabeth Laufer, Kingston; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Gustave Wenzel, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Private services have been entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA.
