Gertrude (Forve) Girmen, 91, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on October 26, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Gertrude (Hartman) Forve.

Gertrude was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. She took wonderful care of her children in their younger years and then went to work at Boscov’s as a cashier until she retired.

She loved gardening and taking care of her flowers but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Edward J. Girmen and sister, Helen Campbell.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Kelly Girmen; sons, Frederick, and Mark Girmen; grandchildren, Jaime, Mark Jr., and Ryan Girmen and 3 great grandchildren.

In keeping with Gertrude’s wishes, services were private from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services.
