Eileane M. Sipple, 70, of Ashley, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Phoenixville, PA on June 29, 1944, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Luckay) Chapay. She was a 1962 graduate of Coughlin High School.

She attended St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley. She was a member of American Legion Post 673 Ladies Auxiliary, Ashley, where she was a past president and held several other offices. She also tended bar at the legion for many years.

Prior to retiring in 2011, Eileane worked in Dining Services at King’s College for over 20 years. She was previously employed by the former Funke Silk Mill, Ashley for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John “Sonny” Chapay, nephews, Danny Chapay and Robert Sipple, Jr. and niece, Molly Brobst.

Surviving are her sons, Donald Sipple and Tommie Sipple, both of Ashley; a daughter, Robin Wilde of Ashley; grandchildren, Kristine Sipple, Daniel Wilde and Kayla Sipple; former husband, Donald Sipple, great granddaughter Kiana Lewis; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. American Legion Post 673 Ladies Auxiliary, Ashley, will conduct a service Tuesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Eileane’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 71 N. Franklin Street, Suite 106, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
