Listen to Obituary

Edward J. Delescavage, 79, of Wilkes Barre, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022, at the Wilkes Barre VA Hospital, with family by his side.

Ed was born on April 11, 1943, in Wilkes Barre, PA to Edward J. and Sophie (nee Witek) Delescavage. His life was full of family, friends, food and fun. Whether you knew him as Pink, Pinky, Eddie, Eddie Del or G-Pa, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Ed graduated from Wilkes Barre Twp. High School in 1960, and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. He served overseas in Europe from 1960-1963. Following his honorable discharge, he married Elaine Bennetski, they had one daughter, Lori. He was a devoted father who always supported her, from roller skating to track to college, and beyond.

Ed worked as a chemical plater and supervisor at Reilly Plating in Nanticoke, Pa for over 40 years. Reilly Plating was more than a job to him, it was his second family.

Throughout the years he wore many “hats” from player to umpire to devoted fan; to loving grandpa to doting cat dad. Everyone knew of his love for his granddaughters, The Dallas Cowboys and his cat Fluffy, but his love for family and friends was undeniable. He was a proud grandpa who passionately followed his granddaughters' cheerleading, rowing and academic endeavors.

He leaves behind his devoted brother Bob (Maryann), who was always there for him, daughter Lori (Dominic) Preston, who spoke with him every day, and granddaughters Lauren and Julia. As well as nephews: Bobby, Gary, and Jerry; niece Beth; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry (Cindy), who was his “partner in crime”, and wife Elaine.
