Dorothy Ann (Edmunds) Blakeslee, 80, of Hanover Township, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 1 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital.
Born in Edwardsville, October 30, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mary Ann (Edwards) Edmunds.
Dorothy was a graduate of Edwardsville High School. She spent most of her life as a homemaker for her husband and children. She also took great pride in her work at Strouds Service Merchandise, where she worked in the jewelry department.
Dorothy attended church at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Ashley. She served as an organist and choir director at Luzerne United Methodist Church. Dorothy also enjoyed shopping trips, whether it was trips to Lancaster or her Saturday afternoon trips to the mall with nieces, Betty and Mary Ann.
Dorothy was preceded in death by; her loving husband of 42 years, Ned; brothers, Edward Edmunds, Emlyn Edmunds, Stanley Edmunds; sisters, Elizabeth Cooper, Thelma Shrader, Marion Vowell.
Surviving are; her son, Ned Jeffrey Blakeslee of Hanover Twp.; her daughter, Susan Zeske, and her husband, Lawrence, of Hanover Twp.; sisters-in-law, Jacquelyn Howatt of Hanover Twp. and Jill Mendygral of Harvey’s Lake; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with Reverend Roger Noss officiating. Friends and family are invited to visit Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
