Doris J. (Miller) Auker

Doris J. Auker, 93, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on August 13, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Ethel (Birney) Miller.  She attended Meyers High School.

Doris was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre.  Prior to retiring, she was employed by Roxanne’s where she was a seamstress making high end bathing suits.

Doris enjoyed card club where she played Pinochle and enjoyed attending the luncheons.  She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening.  She took great pleasure cooking for her family on Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Auker, Jr., who passed away November 17, 1971; a grandson, Charles Auker, IV; brother Ralph Miller and sister, Thelma Miller.

Surviving are her sons, Alan Auker and wife, Arlene; Paul Auker and wife, Patricia and Charles Auker, III and wife Veronica; grandchildren, Christina Smith, Kimberly Auker, Kevin Auker, Michele Lutinski, Audrey Shuleski and Andrea Hill;  great-grandchildren, Steven and Samantha Shuleski, Kaelyn and Trystan Lutinski and Xavier Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 7p.m. on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.  Interment will be Monday in Oak Lawn Cemetery.   Friends may call Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
