Doris M. (Kretchmer) Kushner

Doris M. Kushner, 95, passed away peacefully June 5, 2025 at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Smethport. She was formerly a resident at Kingston PA.

She was born in Wilkes-Barre on June 6, 1929, daughter of the late Paul H. and Margaret Bergstrasser Kretchmer and was a graduate of the GAR class of 1947.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Kushner, 3 brothers Arthur Kretchmer, Paul Kretchmer and his wife Fran, Carl Kretchmer and his wife Dorcas, and 2 sisters, Gerturde Carey and Florence Miller.

Doris was employed at General Cigar Company, Kingston, for many years. She was a very active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she served on the church council and the church cookie bakers. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and baking.

Surviving is her daughter, Deborah (Randy) Boyer of Port Allegany, PA, and her son David (Doreen) Kushner of Hanover Township, PA.; grandchildren, Timothy Kushner, Lindsey (Jeffrey) Toth, and Jason (Dana) Boyer; great grandchildren, Samuel, Jacob, and Evan Boyer, Ada and Cooper Toth, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, from 9-11AM, with an 11AM service at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be immediately after the service at Fern Knoll Cemetery in Dallas.

Memorial donations can be made to a charity of the donors choice.
