Obituary
Doris (Shimcott) Christie, 87, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday morning at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 30, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Rose (Yekel) Shimcott.
She was a member of the former Messiah Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre. As a young girl, she had 23 years of perfect attendance at Sunday School.
Prior to retiring, she was employed by many local dress factory is a member of I.L.G.W.U.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Christie, who passed away in June, 2000 and a sister, Bertha Ledford.
Surviving are her son, Richard Christie, Wilkes-Barre and sister Rose Fiascki, Wilkes-Barre; several nieces and a nephew
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2014 at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Mary Laufer will officiate. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral Home.
