Donald James Sipple

Donald J. “Mr. Sip” Sipple, Sr., 77, of Ashley, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at his home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre Township on April 23, 1945, he was a son of the late Henry L. and Grace (Kastreva) Sipple.  He was a member of St. Leo’s Church, Ashley and past member of American Legion Post 673, Ashley.

Mr. Sip was a former Mayor of Ashley.  He was previously a member of the Ashley Police Department for 15 years.  He was very active in the Ashley community and was former coach for Ashley Little League. He also worked security for Kings College and Misericordia University.  He loved hunting with his son, Donnie and riding his Harley Davidson. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Eileane M. (Chapay) Sipple;  brothers, Raymond and Robert Sipple; sisters Graceann Brobst and Bernice Gavlick; sister-in-law, Betty Sipple, nephew, Robert Sipple; nieces Molly Brobst and Maureen Morgan and his good friend, Sean Campbell.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Donald J. “Donnie” Sipple, Jr. and Thomas J. “Tommie” Sipple, both of Ashley; his daughter, Robin A. Wilde of Ashley; grandchildren, Kristine Sipple , Daniel Wilde and Kayla Sipple; great-granddaughter Kiana Lewis; nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
