Derek Princeton Smith, 56, of Kingston, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Born in Atlantic City, NJ on September 15, 1968, he was a son of the late Prince Prescott and Catherine L. Garrett.

Derek worked as an Aerospace Engineer and also taught special education.

He is survived by his son; Jameel Dion Smith; daughter, Selah White-Smith; brother, Imam Jameel Abdullah; sister, Dr. Diane Smith, and very special friends like family,  Malik Porchea, Ron Weathers and Dionne Coleman, and host of nieces and nephews.

Private interment for Derek’s family will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
