David P. Jones

WILKES-BARRE-David P. Jones, Sr., 72, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday at Celtic Hospice, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 2, 1941, he was a son of the late Edward Jones and Ruth Brugger. He was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Prior to retiring in 1996, he was employed as a machinist at Tobyhanna Army Depot for over 37 years.

David was an avid coin collector.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothea V. (Urban) Jones, who passed away June 7, 2011; a brother, Howard Jones and sister Dorothy Sepela.

Surviving are his sons, David P. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Ruth of Wilkes-Barre; Stanley E. Jones, Wilkes-Barre; daughter Justine A. Keithline, Hanover Township; grandchildren Nicole, Amy, Daniel and Amber; brothers Edward Jones and his wife, Sandy of Wilkes-Barre and John "Jack" Jones and his wife, Rita of Copan, OK; several nieces and nephews.

A prayer service will be held on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. Friends may call from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
