Claire M. (Mcdade) Evans

Claire (Clara Mae) McDade Evans, 98, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Kingston Rehabilitation and Nursing. Born in Wilkes-Barre on August 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Bernard J. and Frances Kittle McDade. Claire was a lifelong member of Albright United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre. She enjoyed doing Circle-A- Word, reading novels by Erma Bombeck and poetry by Helen Steiner Rice. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She enjoyed flowers and birds. Claire also loved spending time with her cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Evans; brothers Bernard W. “Mickey” McDade and Michael B. McDade; sister, Ruth A. McDade Gipp; sons-in-law James R. Loughrey and David B. Panaway. Claire is survived by her daughters, Ann Frances Evans Loughrey, Maura Evans and Jill S. Evans Panaway, all of Wilkes-Barre; granddaughter, Claire L. Panaway; grandsons, David, Daniel and Donald Panaway; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Carol L. McDade Geluso; goddaughter Melody McDade and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
