Carol Jean Buck, 79, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on March 26, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital after being a guest at Hampton House for many years.
Born in Port Gibson, Mississippi, on October 30, 1945, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Cecelia (Little) Buck.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by sister, Cleo Renee Buck; niece, Zaria Johnson; nephew, Raymond Strother; and brothers-in-law Jerry Potop, Edward Batts, and Edward A. Walters Jr.
After graduating high school, the family moved to New York where Carol worked as a waitress in the food industry for many years. She also worked for voters’ registration and the polls. Upon relocating to Wilkes-Barre, Carol loved to go to the Senior Citizen Center to see friends and play bingo and Pokeno every day. Carol sang in the Senior Citizen Choir at her church, Mt. Zion. She also loved going on trips to Atlantic City. She loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Surviving to cherish Carols memory are sisters, Barbara Potop, Las Vegas, Nancy Randolph (Louis), Wilkes-Barre, Jo Ann Batts, Wilkes-Barre, Jacqueline Walters, Wilkes-Barre, and Janis Redmond, Indiana; brother, Clarence Ward (Jackie), Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on April 12 from 11-12 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 105 Hill St, Wilkes-Barre, PA, 18702, with a 12PM service with Pastor Brewster. Interment will be on Monday, April 14 at Maple Hill Cemetery.
