Our beloved mother, Brenda Nadine Hinds, transitioned on March 29, 2026. She was born on Wednesday, November 2, 1960, at Harlem Hospital in New York, NY, to the late Barbara Yvonne Hinds and B. Anderson.
Brenda attended New York City public schools in East New York, Brooklyn. She spent time living in Queens before relocating back to Brooklyn. She was the youngest of three children and is reunited with her late brother, Linden Hinds.
Raised with the love and guidance of her aunts alongside her many cousins, Brenda grew up surrounded by a strong sense of family. She carried that same love into her own life, becoming the proud mother of six children—three sons and three daughters. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Brenda had a passion for cooking and caring for others. She expressed her love through the meals she prepared, always requested and appreciated by family. She often said her secret ingredient was love—and everyone who tasted her food knew it was true.
A devoted mother and family woman, Brenda dedicated her life to raising her children with strength, warmth, and care. She was always surrounded by loved ones and those she embraced as family. She lived her life on her own terms, with no regrets.
Brenda was known for being tall, strong-willed, and direct—never one to tolerate nonsense. Her presence, love, and spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Yvonne Hinds, and her brother, Linden (Jamal) Hinds.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Shaniqua, Tiara, Kenneth, Taimak, Shania and Tyquan; including her brother, Frank (Sekou) Hinds, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and many other relatives and loved ones.
