Bernice Elizabeth (Thrash) Snyder, 90, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at St. Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre, where she was a resident for the last three years.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, on July 9, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marie (Vogt) Thrash. Bernice was a 1941 graduate of Hanover Township High School.
Bernice was an active member of Albright United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she was a member of the choir for over 68 years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women and Rainbow Senior Citizens Group.
Prior to retiring, Bernice worked at American Clothing, Wilkes-Barre for 16 years.
Preceding her in death was her husband, of 39 years, Alfred Snyder, who passed away in 1986, two brothers, Charles and Joseph Thrash.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Linda Burritt and her husband, Harold, Exeter, two loving sons, Alfred W. Jr. and his wife, Helga, Newport News, VA, David W. and his wife, Christine, Jenkins Township, 7 grandchildren, Keith Burritt and fiancé, Brenda Geisinger, Kevin Burritt, Torsten Retzel, Carrol Ann Snyder, David W. Snyder, Jr., Clint Kyttle and Scott Smith, two great grandchildren, a sister, Elizabeth Bane, Brewerton, NY, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Albright United Methodist Church, 116 Dana Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Reverend Dr. James L. Harring, of Church of Christ Uniting, Kingston, officiating. Interment will be in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends are invited to attend the viewing at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. till the time of the service.
