Bernadine M. (Pogwist) Cope, 84, of Shickshinny, passed away Sunday,
March 13, 2016, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Nanticoke
on May 15, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Mary
(Smiegoski) Pogwist.
Bernadine worked as a seamstress before marrying her husband of 51 years, Stanley J. Cope, on August 8, 1964.
She then dedicated herself to raising her family and spending time with
them. Bernadine loved holidays and decorated for every occasion. She
also enjoyed knickknacks and wind chimes. Bernadine was a member
of St. Faustina Parish, Nanticoke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin sister,
Josephine Gambini and sisters, Carleen and Eleanor Pogwist.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Stanley J. Cope;
sons, Stanley J. Cope, II and wife, Emma, Gerard J. Cope and wife,
Elizabeth, Michael J. Cope and wife, Susan; daughter, Carline M. Lindley
and husband, William; grandchildren, Jessica, Desirae, Austin, Sydney,
Reagan and Tessa Cope, Samantha, Jordan and Devin Lindley; and great
grandson, Aiden Zemany.
A memorial service for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Roaring Brook Baptist Church, Pritchards Rd., Hunlock Creek with Pastor Dan Brubaker officiating.
