Barbara R. (Atkinson) Vital

Barbara R. Vital, 67, of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, April 2, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

Born on November 14, 1947, in Hunlock Creek, she was a daughter of William and Doris (Lee) Atkinson.

In the 1960’s and 1970’s, Barbara worked at the Leader Nursing Center, Kingston. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially vacationing in the 1000 islands.  She loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Vital, a grandson Anthony Throop, a sister, Dixie Rowles, and three brothers, William, Lee and David Atkinson.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph Vital, Sr., 5 daughters Alma Mills and her husband, Arthur, Mountain Top, Tammy and her husband, Mark Stevenson, Hanover Township, Paulette Vital, Wilkes-Barre, Billie Jo Vital, Dallas, Terri Belcher and companion, Leo Skoloda, Larksville, a son, Joseph Vital, Jr. and wife, Mary, Wilkes-Barre, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, two sisters, Robin Walski, Mountaintop, Sheila Gower, Lehman, two brothers, Randy and Robert Atkinson, Wilkes-Barre, several nieces and nephews & her loving German Sheppard, Jake.
