William “Ace” Stephen Maley, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 15that Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Born on December 26, 1930 in Johnstown, PA, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Leach) Maley.
After high school, Ace proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon returning, he worked as a chef at the Dresden, Wilkes-Barre.
Ace later worked at and retired from Otis Elevator Company. He was also a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 76 & 84.
He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, where he served as an usher for over 40 years. He was also a Past President of St. Conrad’s Y.M.S., Wilkes-Barre, a member of American Legion, Post 815, Wilkes-Barre Township, North End Slovak Society, and former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ace loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He always worked hard to provide for his family and was always willing to take on a new challenge and would help anyone. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards with his friends. He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed participating in local parades.
Preceding him in death was two sisters, Kathleen McHenry and Rose Ann Hogrebe, and two brothers, John and Richard Maley, and son in law, Raymond Grivner.
Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Geraldine (Hogrebe) Maley, two daughters, Christine Grivner, Wilkes-Barre, Patricia Maley, Wilkes-Barre, five sons, William and his wife, Trudy, Larksville, Mark, Stephen, Michael and his wife, Margaret, all of Wilkes-Barre, Thomas and his wife, Michelle, Trucksville, 13 grandchildren, Alicia, Jill, Scott, Justine, Kelly, Patrick, Gary, Danny, Jennifer, Chris, James, Kacey and Jake, three great grandchildren, Josh, Madden and Macey, a sister, Mary Trevethan, Wilkes-Barre, several nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 18th, at 10:00 AM in St. Nicholas Church, 226 S. Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre with Father Joseph Verespy. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Please go directly to the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Nicholas Church.
