William Lee “Jr.” Medley, Jr., 86, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at his home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 15, 1933, he was a son of the late William Leonard and Lillian Elizabeth (McCloe) Medley. He attended G.A.R. High School and then served in the Army as a paratrooper and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Growing up, Mr. Medley attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In later years, he attended New Covenant Christian Fellowship and First Baptist Church.
Prior to retiring, he was employed by PP&L as a lineman for over 30 years. He enjoyed family, fishing and camping.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth I. “Sib” (Clark) Medley, who passed away on June 25, 2001; a son, James, and his parents, William Leonard and Lillian (McCloe) Medley; brothers, Morris and his wife, Martha; sisters Shirley Walker and her husband Alfonzo; Charlene “Poochie” Jenkins and Rachel Medley; in-laws Frank Thornton, Harol Murray, Gloria Oliver, Harold Henson; nephew Kevin Lupton.
Left to cherish his memory are sons, William L. Medley, Jr. and wife, Denise; Reverend Brian D. Medley and Robert E. Medley and wife, Mik’; his daughter Lisa Rosiak and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Leigh Arrington and husband, Nyjah; Leon Medley and wife, Abagail; Evrin; Carla, Brian D., Jr. and Jayda Medley, Torey Medley, Cody and Ariana Rosiak and Robert E. Medley, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Dominique, Gabrielle, Precious, Mya, Jordan, Isaiah, Marqkel, Iarie, Mekhi, Arieyah and Nahemi; great great grandchildren, Jerome, Faith and Dominique, Jr.; sisters, Rebecca Murray, Dorothy Thornton and Estelle McGoy; brothers, Charles Medley and his wife, Rayetta, and Reverend John Medley.
Homegoing services will be held at noon on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 105 Hill Street, Wilkes-Barre with Reverend Shawn Walker. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp. Friends may call Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
