Mary Rodel Dunn

Mary Rodel Dunn, 65, of the Newtown section of Hanover Twp., passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2018 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre on Feb. 24, 1953, Rodel was the daughter of the late Jerome R. and Mary H. (McGinnis) Dunn. She was a graduate of St. Leo’s High School, Ashley. Rodel was a member of St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley. She was also a member of the Newtown Fire Department Auxiliary, the former VFW in Ashley and enjoyed camping with her family. Rodel was a wonderful aunt to the children in her family and the neighborhood. She threw the best parties and her house was the place to be at Halloween. She was formerly employed by the Victims Resource Center, Wilkes-Barre, as a receptionist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerome R. Dunn, Jr., who passed away in 2001. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Susanna Dunn; nieces, Jennifer Woss, Jaclyn Michael and Jillian Dunn; a nephew, Jerome R. Dunn, III; great niece, Emily Woss and great nephew; Michael Woss. Rodel wanted to thank her many close friends for their help in caring for her. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 24th at 7:00 P.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main St. Wilkes-Barre. Rev. Vincent Dang will be officiating. Family and friends may visit from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Interment will be private for the family.
