Margaret DeFrancesco, R.N. Margaret DeFrancesco, 91, formerly of Luzerne, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Timber Ridge Healthcare Center, Plains Township. She was born in Beaumont, PA. A daughter of the late Nelson and Irma (Frantz) Harris. She graduated from Dallas Township High School, class of 1943 and went on to become a Registered Nurse through the Army Cadet Corp. and Pittston Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1946. Before her retirement, she was employed by Pittston Hospital and NPW Hospital. Margaret was a member of Private Duty Nurses Association and Luzerne United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, Margaret was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Andrew DeFrancesco, who passed away on December 8, 2008; and a brother Jake Harris. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sue (Dale) Rattigan, Dupont, grandsons Gary Clark, Drums, Robert (Michele) Clark, St. John’s, Arizona; great grandchildren, Casey, Oregon; Madison, and R.J. Clark, Arizona; and Alexis Clark, Pittston, a sister-in-law, Dora Harris, Trucksville, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, March 24 at Luzerne United Methodist Church, 466 Bennett St. Luzerne, with Pastor Bruce Gowe officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at 3:00pm until the time of the service.
