Kathryn (Kidd) Lockman, 81, of Shavertown, Pennsylvania, departed peacefully to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loving family On Friday December 15th, after a life well lived.

She was born in Dallas, Texas and relocated in her teens with her family to Dallas, Pennsylvania. It was here as a teen that she played a major role in helping to raise her younger siblings who she loved dearly. She graduated from Lake-Lehman High School where she was lead cheerleader as well as homecoming queen.

Soon after graduation she met the love of her life Bob Lockman a “local boy” from Wilkes-Barre. Bob was stationed in the Army at Ft. Lewis, Washington. They dated mainly through love letters. They were soon married in Wilkes-Barre and promptly packed up the car and headed-cross country to Ft. Lewis.

After the Army, they moved to Connecticut where they raised 4 boys. Kathryn was an amazing homemaker but also worked part-time to support the family. She worked as a seamstress and in several customer service roles at companies such as The Record-Journal, ZIP Variety store, Marshall’s, and most recently Hallmark. With Kathryn, family was always 1st and she did whatever it took to provide for them.

Kathryn is survived by 3 sons: Robert E. Lockman Jr. (Shavertown, PA), Timothy Lockman (Wallingford, CT), and Jeffrey Lockman and wife Lisa-Lori Lockman (Walnut Creek, CA); her 7 sisters / brothers Kenny (“Tex”),  Judy, Carolyn, Shirley, Douglas,  Marilyn, and Billy; her 5 grandchildren  Travis, Sarah, Steven, Scott, and Christa, her great grandchildren Cassidy, Logan, and Connor.

Kathryn  was beloved by everyone who knew  her. She was an incredible wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  Bob affectionately referred to her as “Kate” and sometimes “sarge” as she had the toughness necessary to raise 4 boys but she also had a heart of gold and her door was always open for anyone that needed help. She was full of energy and had many hobbies.  She was an amazingly accomplished cook, baker, quilter, sewer, and gardener. She would use these talents to raise money for charities & the church.  Most of all, she was deeply in love with that “boy from Wilkes-Barre” that she had met 64 years ago. At the time of Bob’s passing they had been married 58 years, a love story for the ages.  Now Kathryn is where she wants to be, reunited in Heaven at the side of her soulmate. Kathryn will be forever missed and never forgotten, and her greatness will live on through every life she has touched.

Kathryn was a faithful member of the First United Church in Wallingford, CT. More recently, she was a member of the Dallas United Methodist Church.

Kathy is preceded in death by her father William Jennings Sr., her mother Mildred Phillips, her brother Richard Jennings, her husband Robert E. Lockman Sr., and her son Kevin S. Lockman.

Family and friends may call Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
