Genevieve "Ginka" (Bryk) Turel

Genevieve “Ginka” (Bryk) Turel, 86, formerly of Avoca and Duryea, passed away on Sunday morning at Dunmore Health Care Center, Dunmore, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 28, 1931 in Pittston, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Stella ( Mycek) Bryk.

Ginka was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish, Avoca (formerly Ss. Peter & Paul) and a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Ladies Auxiliary and assisted in in the rectory.

She retired from Imperial Foods, Moosic.

Ginka always enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family.  She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Edward J. Turel, who died in 1984, several brothers and sisters and other family members.

Surviving are; her loving daughter, Lisa and her husband, Joseph Murrin, Dunmore,loving sons, Edward and his wife, Patricia, Old Forge, Richard and his wife, Anita, Hampstead, N.C., Michael, Dallas, PA, Stephen and his wife, Nancy, Dunmore, 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Olivia, Jonathan, Erica, Stephen Jr., Kevin, Shane and Megan, 4 great grandchildren, Gavin, Mason, Evan and Aaron, a sister, Lottie Nyzio, Avoca, a brother, Joseph Bryk, South Toms River, N.J., several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 9:30 A.M. in Queen of the Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne Street, Avoca with interment to follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery with Father Phillip J. Sladicka officiating.

A viewing will be held from 8:30 A.M. till the time of the Mass at the church.
