Will Woodworth Obituary

Will H. Woodworth Jr., 90, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on March 25, 2021, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, on November 6th, 1930, he was a son of the late Will H. Woodworth Sr. and Ethel (Hoover) Woodworth.

Will was a 1948 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, where he served as Vice President of his class and excelled at football.  He was the Co-Captain of the Wyoming Valley Conference Football Champions.  Will went on to play football and graduate from Muhlenberg College.  Will then joined the US Navy to serve his country on the USS Greene.

Will worked for Macmillan Publishing before he became a counselor for the State of PA, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Wilkes-Barre, where he retired from at 25 years of service.

He was a life member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, serving on the church counsel, the choir and church bowling team for many years. Will was a great family man, noting he was proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved the outdoors and camping, especially at 52 Acres Campground.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Barbara Jean (Ecker) Woodworth, son, Jeffrey A. Woodworth, grandson, Eric S. Weghorst, great grandson, Devin Weghorst, brothers; Charles Woodworth, and Donald Woodworth.

Will is survived by his loving wife, of 27 years, Barbara (Williams) Woodworth, daughters; Alice & husband, Dean Weghorst, Dr. Donna Namey & husband, Dr. George Namey, Step-son, Robert Kressly, grandchildren; Bradley Weghorst & wife Dena, Chandra Masimore & husband Tony, Jacob Namey, Samuel Namey, Joshua Woodworth and Saul Woodworth, great-grandchildren; Hannah Weghorst, Allison Weghorst,  Lydia Masimore, Isaiah Masimore, Brinna Weghorst, Christopher Weghorst,  daughter-in-law, Lisa Woodworth granddaughter-in-law, Angela Weghorst, twin brother Alan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
