Dale I. (Smerdon) Francis

Dale I. (Smerdon) Francis, 76, of Moosic passed away Monday August 21, 2023 at Geisinger CMC, Scranton. 

Born in Taylor on November 15, 1946 she was a daughter of the late Edward and Prudence (Eaton) Smerdon. 

Dale was a member of Bethel United Methodist church, Avoca. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, sightseeing, playing bingo, shopping etc. She especially loved spending time with her family doing puzzles, playing cards, dancing and having tea while reminiscing about the good ol times. Dale always loved her surprise visits from her cousin/ best friend Betty Herron. She also loved the spontaneous trips to the casino with her granddaughter Alicia. 

Dale had a true heart of gold, especially when it came to her granddaughters and animals. She always looked forward to spending time with her daughter and son. If you were fortunate enough to be in her presence you have experienced her pure heart, full of kindness and love, and how special she made everybody feel. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Smerdon, sisters, Alice Concert, Prudence  Slack and  Dorothy Smerdon and niece, Alice Hensley. 

Left to cherish her memory are her son Wesley J. Francis Jr of Old Forge ; daughter, Linda L, Francis of Dunmore; granddaughters Samantha Studders and Alicia Dommes and her husband, Brian; sister, Linda Seaman Pittston Twp, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, September 1, from 5:00PM - 7:00 PM at Bethel United Methodist Church, 530 Main St, Avoca, PA.
