William Harry Cann

William Harry Cann, 88, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, April 6th, at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Hanover Township, on October 23, 1928, he was a son of the late William and Natalie (Norton) Cann.

William was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School, from the class of 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having proudly served with the 394Th Chemical Battalion. William also served in Japan, Korea and 18 months in Guam.  He worked for ARA Services, Hanover Twp., for 25 years. William then became part owner of Venders 1st Choice, Wilkes-Barre, until he retired in 1990.

He was a member of First Welsh Baptist Church, Plymouth and Plains American Legion, Post 558.

William married the late Beth Thomas in 1954, who passed away in 1985, and his second wife, Barbara Bezdziecki, in July of 1987.

He is survived by his loving wife and full time care giver, Barbara; son, Brian Cann and wife, Sandra; stepdaughters, Marina Meola, Eva Marie Gervasini and Lisa Battista; step grandsons, Jeremy and Dean Gervasini and Sammy Battista; sister in law, Debbie Andes and husband, Michael; niece, Jessica Andes; nephew, Michael C. Andes; and many cousins.

Funeral services will be Monday, at 11:00 AM, from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 AM until the service. Officiating will be Reverend Anita Ambrose. Entombment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
