May 30, 1935 ~ March 14, 2015 (age 79) 79 Years Old

To the family and friends of THERESA MARIE (WASHINGTON) BARR:  Theresa went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Theresa was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 30, 1935.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Washington; her father, Oliver Jinwright; and her two brothers, Earl Washington and James Washington.

She was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and began her work career at the age of 16.  She was employed by Saint Agnes Medical Center, Philadelphia, until her retirement in 1997.  She worked there for 40 years.

She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Philadelphia, where she served as a member of the Generations of Praise Choir, the Semper Fidelis Ministry and the Malinka Missionary Society, until she moved to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Shortly after moving to Wilkes-Barre, she became a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she attended faithfully until she became ill.

Theresa was very proud of her family and loved when everyone could come together to sing, to pray, to have a good time and to thank God for His blessings and His favor.  She loved her family and friends in Philadelphia and beyond.  She loved her family and friends in Wilkes-Barre.

A memorial service celebrating her life will he held on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 105 Hill Street, Wilkes-Barre. Immediate burial has taken place at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hanover Township, Pa. but her spirit is present with the Lord.

Theresa will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Belinda M. Tabron and son-in-law, Harlan L. Tabron, Sr.; 5 grandchildren: Nikkol Blagmon and her husband, William; Harlan L. Tabron, Jr. and his wife, Trisha; Christian R. Tabron and his wife, Tareva; Jasmine Tabron and Sienna Tabron; 7 great-grandchildren: Khadijah, William II, Jada, Juliana, Jordynne, Traison and Malani; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

This separation is temporary.

….When all God’s children get together what a time, what a time, what a time……
