December 18, 1936 ~ February 1, 2016 (age 79) 79 Years Old


Michael J. Hogan, 79, of Wilkes-Barre, went home to the Lord and his son, Sean, on Monday morning, February 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends.

 

Born in Wilkes-Barre on December 18, 1936, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marion (Curley) Hogan. 

 

Mr. Hogan was a member of Messiah Primitive Methodist Church, Bear Creek.  He was also a member of Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; Kingston Lodge No. 395 F & A.M.; Irem Temple A.A.O.N.M.S, where he was a past Potentate in 2001.  Michael was also inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame in 1995.

 

Prior to retiring, he was employed as an Estimator at Parson Sales.

 

He was preceded in death by his son, Sean Patrick Hogan, who passed away September 11, 1993.

 

Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, Marylee J. (Hornlein) Hogan; sons, Michael Hogan, Mechanicsburg; Robert Hogan, Wilkes-Barre; Edward Hogan, Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Jackie, Melissa, Regina, George and Page; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph, Forty Fort; Patrick, FL; William, Wilkes-Barre and Gerald, OK; Clarence, Harvey’s Lake; sisters Audrey Cook, Kingston; Charlotte Williams, Harvey’s Lake; Rosemary Sullivan, Kingston; Margaret “Peggy” Askew, Dallas; Catherine Conrad, Plymouth; nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. John Carey and all of the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

 

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc.  465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Reginald Thomas officiating. Entombment will follow in in St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Hanover Township.

 

Friends may call Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 340 Montage Mountain Rd., Moosic, PA 18507
