Lorrie J. (Bishop) Pomanek

Lorrie J. (Bishop) Pomanek, 67, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Monday evening, May 22, 2017, at her home.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on January 5, 1950, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lucetta (Bevan) Bishop.  She was a member of Firwood United Methodist Church, Wilkes-Barre.

Prior to her retiring 15 years ago, Lorrie was employed as the Benefit Coordinator at Blue Cross.

Lorrie liked the beach and traveling. She was an avid reader.  She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events and plays.  She was a wonderful friend and maintained friendships and kept in touch with her high school classmates.  She was the glue that held them together.

Surviving is her husband of 47 years, Edward Pomanek, They were high school sweethearts and were together over 50 years; a son, Brian Pomanek and his wife, Dr. Katherine Pomanek; a daughter, Heidi Pollack and her husband, Jack; grandchildren, Jack Pollack, Tessa Pollack, Mia Pollack, Mason Pomanek, Paisley Pomanek and Piper Pomanek; a brother, Robert Bishop and wife, Elaine; a sister, Ella Ray Lloyd and her husband, Ron.

A Memorial Service will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.

Friends may call Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the ALS Association, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA 50037-0022
