Lawrence “Larry" Andrew Molitoris, 84, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday morning, April 21, 2016 at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.

 

Born on November 26, 1931 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Weller) Molitoris. He attended Coughlin High School.

 

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

 

For over 20 years, he worked as a baker at Acme Markets and later went on to work at 1st Eastern Bank and then PNC Bank.

 

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Slovak Church and St. Andre Bessette Parish and attended church at Sacred Heart Parish.  His other memberships include the Bakery and Confectionery Union, American Legion Post 132, Wilkes-Barre, V.F.W. Post 984, Kingston and the Korean War Veterans, North End Slovak Citizens Club and a 3rd Degree Knight and member of Knights of Columbus Plymouth Council No 984.

 

Larry played Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny for photos with his son’s business, Photography by Andy. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid bowler.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father and grandpop.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Elmer Molitoris.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, the former Regina Babyak, whom he married on September 3, 1960; his sons, Andrew P. “Andy” Molitoris, Trucksville and Martin M. “Marty” Molitoris and his wife, Anissa, Rosendale, NY; grandchildren Andrew and Isabella, Shavertown and Helena and Miles, Rosendale, NY; sister Mary Migatulski; several nieces and nephews.

 

The funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 AM from Kniffen O'Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with a Mass of Christian Burial  10:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish, 143 Division Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Father Richard Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Dallas.

 

Friends may call Sunday evening from 5 to 8 PM and Monday morning from 9 to 9:30 AM at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
