John “Jack” Yuhas

Jack Yuhas, 60, of Wilkes-Barre, defeated all odds by living 261 days beyond his birthday. On February, 26, 2017, he completed his 9th life the way he wanted to while at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA. Ultimately his compounding cardiovascular diseases led to his passing.

His love for his family and his work ethic were second to none. He and the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Margaret Finney Yuhas, were married for 41+ years. Together they had two amazing daughters, Heather (Jorge) Santiago and Holly (Mike) Walker. Jack’s greatest accomplishment was his 5 grandchildren, Alex and David Santiago and Michael, Christian and Juliana Walker.

While Jack’s heart was full of love for his family, he also had many passions. He enjoyed camping, trains, sports, tinkering in his yard and garage and of course his dog, Stewart. Jack was always quick to help others and easily made friends wherever he went.

After graduating from Meyers High School in 1975, Jack worked hard his entire life and sacrificed so much for his family. He worked at Certain-Teed and Catholic Social Services. He was born on June 9, 1956, son of the late Joseph and Claire Yuhas. He was survived by the love of his life Margaret; his daughters, Heather (Jorge) and Holly (Mike), his grandchildren Alex, David, Michael, Christian, Juliana; his brother, Robert (Carolyn) Yuhas, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A memorial service celebrating Jack’s life will be held Thursday, at 7:00 P.M., from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main St. Wilkes-Barre. Pastor Dan Nichols will be officiating. Family and friends may visit from 5:00-7:00 P.M.
