Johanna T. Pohoda

Johanna T. Pohoda, 85, of Pittston, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Post Acute Specialty Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Pittston on January 8, 1932, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Micklasweiz) Baranousky.  She was a graduate of Jenkins Township High School and was of the Catholic faith.

Prior to retiring, Johanna was employed by Techneglas in the Mold Shop.  She was a member of Glass Molder, Pottery, Plastic and Allied Workers International Union.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Paul Pohoda, Jr., who passed away in January, 2017; 2 brothers, John and Edward “Butch” Baranousky and sisters Helen Ranich and infant Maury.

Surviving are a son, Paul Pohoda and wife, Carolyn, Pittston; daughters Mary Jo Shillabeer, Falls, Janet Pohoda, Pittston and Carol Bardzel and husband, Gordon, Falls.  She was affectionately known as Nana Hoda or Nana Moo to her loving grandchildren, Chris Exter, Theresa Miller, Jennifer Miller, Bill Sweeney, Sandra Sweeney, Patrick Pohoda, Jennifer Bardzel, Kayla Bardzel and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a nephew, Richard Ranich, Ohio.

Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
