Donald E. George, 70, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday morning, May 11, 2017, in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

 

Born in Laurel Run on April 20, 1947, he was a son of the late Lewis and Doris Jean (Siley) George.   He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

 

Donald was formerly employed as a mechanic by A & A and various local garages.  He was a car enthusiast, especially muscle cars and Monte Carlos.

 

He was an avid NASCAR  and Miami Dolphins fan.  He enjoyed fishing, drawing and making custom keychains out of parachute cord.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Alberta George and brother, Lewis George.

 

Surviving is his loving wife of 45 years, the former Jacqueline M “Jackie”. Klug, who he married on September 4, 1971; his son, Donald George, Plains; daughters Andrea George, Plymouth and Tiffany Noel George, Plains; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild plus 1 on the way; step brothers, Eugene George and Rick Gallagher; sisters, Nancy Wegrzynowicz and Suzanne Leonard; several nieces and nephews.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with Brian Leffler, Celebrant, officiating.  Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.  Friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.at the funeral home.
