Catherine May Morgan, 100, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

 

Born in Kingston on July 20, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Lyman G. and Emily Jane (Smith) Hann.  She was a 1934 graduate of Hanover Township High School and a 1936 graduate of Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business.  Prior to retiring, she was employed as a secretary with the National Council of Boy Scouts of America in New Brunswick, NJ.

 

Catherine was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gwyther Morgan who passed away June 3, 1986; a brother, Russell Sorber and nephew, Robert Sorber.

 

Surviving are her niece, Barbara Sepko of Hanover Township and her children, Cynthia, Rick, Paul and Kimberly;  niece-in-law, Janet Sorber and her children, Linda, Nancy and Robert; her husband’s nieces, Susan Davies and Carol Kelly, Great Britain; sister-in-law, Iris Morgan, Great Britain.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 465 S. Main St, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Doctor Robert M. Zanicky officiating.  Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.  Friends may call Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to the memorial fund of First Presbyterian Church, 97 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
