Beverly Jean “Bev” (Richards) Payton, 81, of White Haven, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at her granddaughter’s home in Ashley surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Montour Falls, NY on January 11, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Alvernia (Miles) Richards.
Bev served as a nurse in the United States Air force. She retired from White Haven Center where she was a registered nurse for many years. She enjoyed reading and doing needle craft.
She was a member of Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church, formerly Westminster Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald B. Hughes and her second husband, Charles Payton.
Surviving are her sons, William Hughes, Donald Hughes and Timothy Hughes and wife, Amy; daughter Toni White; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Virginia Burdette.
A service will be held in the chapel at Oak Lawn Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 with the Reverend Harold Armstrong officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the chapel.
