On Friday, October 14, 2016, surrounded by those who loved him best, his family, Arlington “Butch” McCloe transitioned from this life into eternal life with the guidance of our Heavenly Father.

On June 9, 1940, the mold was broken when he was born to the late Vern and Ida (Flakes) McCloe, where for less than a year he was an only child. Soon to follow would be Beverly Golden (who was there to receive him in heaven with open arms), Elizabeth Anderson, Arline McClure, Vernon McCloe, Brenda Seabrook, Gloria Watson (J D), Linda Gilliom (Charles), Carol Golden (Will), Everette McCloe, Maurice McCloe and Valerie McCloe.

Early in his adulthood he journeyed to the Scranton area where he would come into the presence of Mary Dunlap. Even though he knew it was love at first sight, she needed some convincing. After several attempts to take her hand in marriage, she too knew he was the one. After a short courtship, who knew that on July 23, 1960, would be the first day of the next 56 years of unwavering love?

He had a strong work ethic and believed in providing for his family. In order to do so, he was employed through several companies. However, he devoted 21 years to General Dynamics from which he would retire. Although retired, his work ethic would not allow him to stay home, so he went on to work for Nutrition Inc., where he remained employed right up to his diagnosis in March 2016.

Butch was loved by many and will leave an everlasting imprint on the lives he touched.

His commitment to the Lord opened the door for many of his lifelong gifts. He was known for sharing the gospel through the distribution of CDs, Daily Breads and tracks. If you didn’t get one of those he gave you a word of wisdom through his testimony.

If you knew Butch you would know that there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his children. The day he entered into Paradise, his beloved daughter Theresa was also there to welcome him home. Here to carry on his legacy are daughters Lillian Venson and Christa McCloe but the ones who called him “Poppy” are listed below:

Monique (Nate), Justin, Paige, Diance, Kemani, Jayden, Shiloh and of course Jollene Bradford.

Never forgotten is his granddaughter Zalayia, who he cherished on earth and is now cherishing in Heaven.

The family invites you to join them Saturday, Oct 22 from 9-11 A.M. at New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, 780 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with services at 11 A.M. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Covenant Christian Fellowship.
